Introduction to Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains for the year 2020

Around 12 lakhs candidate sit for the JEE mains and only 2-3 lakhs proceed ahead of the next round of the exam. In 2019, there were 11279 seats that were available in 23 IIT’s of the country.

JEE Mains for the year 2020 would be held in 3 types of papers where the paper 1 would be for B.Tech and B.E. admissions. The next paper ie paper 2 would be for B.Arch admissions and finally paper 3 is for B.Planning admissions. Both paper 2 and 3 is conducted twice in the year, first in month of January and then finally during the April month.

JEE Main 2020 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who are willing to appear for the 2020 JEE Main must meet the criteria which is been set by the authority body. The criteria is been listed below:
- Age
- There is no such age limit for the candidate
- Although there is no age limit for the candidate, but the requirement may change according to institute need
- Number of Appearances for the exam
- Candidates who have cleared their board exam in 2018, they are eligible in 2019.
- Candidates who are going for boards in the year 2020 can also apply for JEE mains.
- Those candidates who cleared boards in 2017, or before 2017 are not eligible for JEE Mains.
- Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have appeared in 5 subjects in their boards
- Candidates must have passed their boards in Maths and Physics as compulsory subjects. Along with them, one of Chemistry or Biology is also mandatory.

JEE Mains Application form for year 2020 – Exam Pitara
The application form would be available in online mode at the JEE main official website jeemain.nic.in. Candidate who are right now planning to appear for the exam have to fill their form by 3rd September. List of documents that you may require in order to fill up the form are:
- Valid id proof: which can be as mentioned below
- Aadhar, Passport, Ration Card, Bank Account or any type of Government ID number
- Class 12 Certificate (if available)
- Mark Sheet of class 10
- Net Banking / Credit or Debit Card
- List of documents required in order to upload JEE Main form
- Recent photograph (which should be in JPG format with size 10KB to 200KB.
- Personal Signature (which should also be in JPG/JPEG format 4KB to 30KB.
JEE Main Exam Pattern 2020
The JEE Main consists of three papers which are named as paper 1, paper 2 and paper 3. Familiar with the exam’s pattern of the Paper 1, which specifies the expected types of questions as well as number of questions. JEE Main 2020 Cutoff
The minimum rank that would fetch the seat for any of the IIT’s, NIT’s or GFTI’s is the basis for cutoff of JEE main 2020. The final cutoff makes sure that the candidate proceed towards next step of the exam which is JEE advanced. The cutoff depends on the category and according to institute and branch of the institute.
Also the final cutoff is decided according to toughness of the exam and is also estimated by previous year cutoff. The cutoffs for JEE main of last 6 years is been mentioned below:

JEE Main 2020 Result
The result for the exam JEE Main 2020 January will be out on 31st January,2020. The result is separate for Paper 1 as well as paper 2. JEE Main Result for both January and April will be final merit list and the better of the two scores would be considered while making the final list. JEE Main 2020 Counselling (Online)
JEE Main Counselling will be done through Seat Allocation Authority or JoSSA. It is the main conducting body for common counselling for both JEE mains and advance. The candidates have to register themselves for JEE Mains counselling through online mode of JoSSA from June 15. The final seat allotment after the exam will be totally based on student’s score in the exam, total number of available seats, and finally choice of institute and course. The process consists of two types of Mock rounds and which is followed by seven rounds in which the process of allocation of seat would take place. After the last round is completed, the students must report directly to the institute to complete the admission formalities and submitting their documents which are required by the institute.
