Introduction of Charted Accountant

The CA (Chartered Accountant) of India is one of the respectful and challenging career fields. CA is one of the good options for higher education in India. Chartered accountancy was established in 1854, Britain in the core activity of the business. In India, the course is conducted by the ICAI (Indian Chartered Accountants Institute) for the students.

A chartered accountant is a member of ICAI that specialize in the selection of accounts field. The membership can be continued through the prescribed fees or yearly payment to the institute. The work of a chartered accountant as a private advisor or in the accounts department in an organization that essentially preferred for the same. Chartered Accountant plays an important role in case of disputes, bankruptcy, etc. in the organization.

After the completion of this course, you can go for the works as auditing, cost accounting, tax management, management accounting, consultancy and financial works in the industry.

Courses & Duration

The profile takes the completion of 5 years to the CA course. In the year of 2006, the ICAI has launched the three-level of this course.

¨       CPT (Common Proficiency Test)

¨       IPCC (Integrated Professional Competence Course)

¨       FC (Final Course)

The CPT is the entry-level foundation course that involves the quantitative aptitude test, general economics, mercantile laws and accounting.

The IPCC has two groups that cover the working knowledge of the core subjects. It is specially designed to improve the knowledge of accounting standards.

The CA final course covers the advanced knowledge of financial reporting, management accounting, strategic financial management, professional ethics, information systems control and advanced auditing for the students.

The students who had cleared their 10+2 examination can go for the foundation level test conducted by the ICAI. After passing the group level 1st, the students have to undergo the on-job training period of 3 years called “articles” with an audit or accounts firm under the profile of a qualified Chartered Accountant.

After completion of the internship or articles, the student can appear in the final course. The GMCS (General Management and Communication Skills Course) is the 15 days mandatory training course introduced in 2003.

Chartered Accountancy subjects, mostly deal with studies such as budget planning, market research, planning of policies, management of working capital of an organization, etc.

Eligibility & Admission

The students are eligible to give the examination with the commerce or science or arts background can get the admission in CA course. As the students should have the knowledge of the computer as well as all account work done with the help of a computer.

After the completion of 12th standard, students can take the admission in the CA programme through the CPT (Common Proficiency Test).

The eligible students can register for the test after passing their 10th board examination, though they are supposed to appear for the test after the 12th examination.

Students, who pass their graduation with commerce stream,  are required to pass their 12th exam with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the examination.

1)    Common Proficiency Test for CA CPT 2020

CA CPT 2020 Application Form will be released in the month of April 2020. As per the notification, the exam will be conducted in June 2020 for the candidate. The Institute of Chartered Accountants conducts CA CPT 2020 for the students qualifying their first stage examination for Chartered Accountancy Program. Even a Class X or equivalent students are eligible to register for Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test. The aspirants can enroll themselves for the examination after passing Class XII or equivalent. The question paper consists of four sections including only multiple choice type questions and the subject includes Accounting, General Economics, Mercantile Laws, and Quantitative Aptitude for the candidates. CA CPT Eligibility Criteria

The eligible criteria for the CA CPT candidate are given below:

1)      There is no age limit for the aspirants to become eligible for the examination.

2)      The aspirants must have passed Class XII or equivalent in Commerce Stream.

3)      The applicants who have completed the Bachelor or Masters Degree in Commerce with at least 55% percentile marks need not appear in CPT 2020 Examination.

4)      Also, the candidates who own Under Graduate / Post Graduate Degree from Open University are not eligible to appear in the examination.

5)      The applicants appearing in the qualifying examination are eligible for application.

Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test (CA CPT) 2020 Application Form

CA Foundation 2020: Important Dates

As the CA Foundation Notification for 2020 is yet to be released, let’s go through the tentative dates for CA Foundation 2020:

Eligibility Criteria for CA Foundation 2020

Before applying CA Foundation examination for the year 2020, candidates must go through the CA Foundation eligibility criteria and go through, if they are eligible to appear for the exam:

Ø  Candidate must have passed or appeared in this year for Class 12 or any equivalent examination carried out by a recognized board.

Ø  Candidates registered for the CA Foundation must have undergone a minimum of 4 months of the study period before appearing for the foundation exam.

3)    Intermediate (Integrated Professional Competence) Examination

The candidates are eligible for Intermediate examination and it is divided into three categories:

Category I:  Candidates should clear or passed CPT and 10+2/PE I/ Foundation/Entrance Examination and eligible for the examination.

Category 2:  The candidates who were already registered for erstwhile Intermediate Examination as per syllabus under mentioned paragraph 2 or 2A of Schedule B or Professional Education (Course-II) or Professional Competence Course and converted into the Intermediate (IPC) Course/ Accounting Technician Course (ATC) for the category 2 candidates.

Category 3: Direct Entry if the candidates are eligible for:

Graduates/Postgraduates:

Under this category, the eligible candidates are included who registered for the intermediate course/ATC and also completed or would be completing 9 months of practical training for the professionals(including study course for a period of 8 months):

Ø  Candidates converted from Intermediate/PE II/PCC/IPCC/CPT into the Intermediate (IPC) Course/ATC under this category and also completed 9 months of practical training.

Ø  For Intermediate (IPC) course through CPT route candidates who registered and appeared in the Intermediate (IPC) Examination in one or both groups but did not pass any of the groups, and converted to Intermediate (IPC) under the Direct Entry Scheme and commenced practical training on or before the date mentioned in the official website.

Ø  For Intermediate level examination passed students of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India/The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, eligibility criteria is same as Graduates/Post Graduates for the examination.

Additionally, one must ensure that:

¨       He/She is enrolled for the relevant level(s) of the Intermediate (IPC) Course or/and their registration is valid for Registration to the Intermediate (IPC) course is valid for 4 years.

¨       He/She has undergone a study course, for a period of not less than eight months, as maybe specified by the Council for the relevant level(s), and can produce a proof of the same when sought. 

4)    CA Final Examination Process

As per ICAI under the revised guidelines, candidates will have to register themselves first with the Board of Studies (BoS). Also, candidates are allowed to give 6 parallel attempts. ICAI Chartered Accountant Final  Result 2019 Out

The Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI) has released the CA Result 2019 on 16th January 2020. The candidates who have appeared in the final written examination can check their result through its official website https://icaiexam.icai.org/ or https://icai.nic.in/caresult/ by clicking on the link available. The Department has conducted CA Final Group 1 examination from 1st November 2019 to 7th November 2019 and CA Final Group 2 examination from 9th November 2019 to 17th November 2019. The merit list consists of name, roll number, registration number, and the marks secured by All India Rank holders.
