Eligibility Criteria for Indian Navy AA and SSR Recruitment 2020

Sailor (AA)

The candidate should clear 10+2 examination with 60% or more marks in aggregate marks with Maths & Physics and at least one of these subjects: – Chemistry/ Biology/ Computer Science from the Boards of School Education recognized by MHRD, Govt. of India.

Sailor (SSR)

For this post, it should be cleared as 10+2 examination with Maths & Physics and at least one of these subjects: – Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science from the Boards of School Education recognized by MHRD, Govt. of India.

Age Limit

The criteria of age limit for the candidates should between the dates of 01st August 2000 to 31st July 2003 (Both dates inclusive).

Indian Navy AA and SSR Recruitment 2020 Selection Criteria

The recruitment for AA- Selection is based on all India order of merit on their performance when they are eligible in Computer-based Examination, subject to qualifying Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and fitness in Medical Examinations.

When the candidate is eligible to SSR-Selection it is based on State wise merit of their performance in Computer-based Examination, subject to qualifying Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and fitness in Medical Examinations should be cleared.

Computer-based Examination

Ø  One common examination will be conducted for AA and SSR entries.

Ø  Questions should be computer-based with total marks of 100 questions, each carrying 01 mark.

Ø  The question paper will be set as bilingual (Hindi & English) and objective type (multiple-choice) that will be easy to complete.

Ø  The set of questions comprise of four sections i.e. English, Science, Mathematics and General Knowledge.

Ø  The standard of the question paper will be set as according to 10+2 Syllabus & the required sample papers for the examination are available on official website.

Ø   The duration of this recruited examination will be one hour.

Ø  The candidates applied in the examination are required to pass in all sections and in aggregate.

Ø  The Navy reserved candidate has the right to determine the pass marks in each Section and in aggregate of overall marks.

Penalty for Wrong Answer of Questions

The eligible candidates should note that there will be a penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked in the question paper. There always four alternatives for the wrong answer to every question. For attempting each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, should be one fourth (0.25) of the marks will be deducted as penalty assigned to that question.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

¨       Candidate should be qualifying in Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is mandatory for selection.

¨       PFT the test will consist of 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes, 20 squat ups (Uthak Baithak) and 10 Push-ups and the candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk.

Medical Standards

For Navy recruitment, the Medical examination test will be conducted by authorized military doctors as per medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to sailors on entry. It should be mentioned requirement for the candidate should be:

¨       Minimum height should be 157 cms

¨       Weight and Chest should be proportionate

¨       Minimum chest expansion should be 5 cms.

¨       Details regarding the minimum height standards for entry into the Indian Navy as Sailors, and also including applicable relaxations can be accessed from the official recruitment website.

The applied candidate must be in good physical and mental health, as well as free from any defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duties both ashore and afloat under peace as well as war conditions as per Navy Order (Special) 01/2008 in order. It should be extract of the Navy, Order can be accessed from the official Indian Navy recruitment website.

For the recruitment of Preliminary Medical Examination, it will be considered only “Provisionally fit subject to fitness in the final medical examination” term. The organized Final Enrolment Medical Examination of all selected candidates will be held at INS Chilka as it is mentioned. The applied users who are found medically fit in the Final Enrolment Medical Examination will be enrolled at that time. The eligible candidate who is found medically unfit will be advised to appeal against its findings, if they so desire, at INHS Kalyani, Visakhapatnam within a maximum period of 21 days of periodical time.

Note: It should be noted that the candidates are advised to get their ears cleaned for wax, and tartar removed from teeth prior to eligible for medical examination. 

Navy SSR Candidates Visual Standards

Without Glasses:  With better Eye 6/6; Worse Eye 6/9; With Glasses: Better Eye 6/6; Worse Eye 6/6.

Tattoos: The permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms i.e. from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reversed side of palm/ back (dorsal) side of hand is allowed. The candidate will be barred and not acceptable for recruitment; if there will be any permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body will b there.
